Oesophageal Stricture

- Transhiatal Esophagectomy

An esophageal stricture is a narrowing of the oesophagus that can cause trouble with swallowing and food getting stuck in the oesophagus.

Transhiatal Esophagectomy (a part of the oesophagus or the entire oesophagus is removed) and gastric pull-up (Removing the diseased part of the Oesophagus and attaching the stomach to the remaining part) with cervical anastomosis are safe procedures for the treatment of corrosive oesophageal stricture.

Achalasia cardia - Oesophagomyotomy - Cardio Myotomy

achalsia.jpg

Achalasia is a failure of the lower oesophageal sphincter (the valve at the junction of the food pipe and the stomach) to relax.

It is a rare disorder that makes it difficult for food and liquid to pass into the stomach. The reason for these problems is damage to the nerves in the oesophagus.

Achalasia is a condition that causes problems with swallowing.

The muscle in the lower oesophagus fails to relax and therefore hinders the passage of food and fluid into the stomach.

Achalasia is not life-threatening but the symptoms can be disabling. Cardiomyotomy is the most dependable way to help you to swallow more easily for a long time.

Symptoms:

  • Difficulty in swallowing

  • Feeling of Something Stuck in Throat

  • Chest pain

  • Regurgitation of undigested food

  • Weight loss

  • Coughing

Intake of food should become more comfortable soon after surgery and a near-normal diet can be maintained.
